About the PSPG Framework.¶
The idea to develop the PSPG framework was born almost immediately after my first real encounter with a Salesforce production org. A Salesforce implementation project was delivered without a single piece of documentation in terms of requirements, design, conventions, structure, etc. Almost immediately I was calling out, for a proper foundation to deliver high quality administration and support services, being assigned as the lead system administrator for an average size implementation.
A road trip down memory lane gave me a hint to developing a framework where all possible elements involving the deployment of a software platform should be documented. Years back I had been using a PSPG framework for Lotus Domino to document all this in a useful, structured and effective way. The idea to develop a PSPG framework for Salesforce was born. The starting point on a journey to collect the best practices using such a wide spread and growing platform.
Few words from the author.¶
Since my first encounter with Salesforce I was confused — maybe even disappointed — by the way it looked compared to the products I had been used to. A few years later I had a second encounter on a small instance with lots of undocumented bespoke work. I had already read about the potential of Salesforce and their leadership position, but again I was puzzled by why so much custom work had been layered on top of such a capable platform. It felt like using a sedan for package deliveries.
Finally, a third encounter made me feel comfortable right away. And that is also the time my wife and kids got thoroughly indoctrinated by the single word — Salesforce.
